Tax rules and benefit tax

Company insurances can be affected by several tax rules. We have collected and summarized the main ones here, but note that the information is not comprehensive. For more detailed information, we refer to Skatteverket.

What about when it comes to benefit taxation?

An accident insurance can partly be covered by benefit tax. The part of the premium that derives from the employee's spair time shall be taxed on benefits, while the part that derives from the employee's working hours shall not be taxed on benefits.

This means:
Working hours = no benefit taxation.
Spair time = 100% of the price must be taxed on benefits.

For an employee who is insured during both working hours and their spair time, the premium shall be taxed on benefits in proportion to how much of it relates to the employee's spair time.

Amounts paid out from the insurance are tax-free.

The premium is deductible for the company.
